Curwood Castle
Owosso's Heritage Park, On Curwood Castle Drive

Curwood Castle is the Studio of famed author and conservationist James Oliver Curwood.  Built in 1922 as a writing studio, it is believed to be a replica of a gatehouse to a French Castle.  The 16" walls are constructed of old style tile with three holes in them, which provides air space for insulation and soundproofing.  James Oliver Curwood was proud of his hometown of Owosso.  In the November 1922 edition of GOOD HOUSEKEEPING magazine, he wrote: "I think it is the nicest place in the world.  I was born there and I hope to die there.  It's American, and it makes you feel at home."  Contact Curwood Castle at (989) 725-0599.
